Exposure to UV radiation over long periods can lead to more serious damage to the eyes such as: cataracts, pterygium, skin cancer of the eyelids and around the eyes and ocular melanoma.
One option to protect your eyes is to wear sunglasses with adequate UV protection. If wearing prescription glasses consider adding a UV-protective coating or buying prescription sunglasses. Tinted lenses protect the eye from visible light, Polarised lenses give the added security of glare protection.
